A five-year programme
for social clubs across England

Coming June 2026
A new national programme for social clubs across England

We’re working with social clubs in areas of deprivation across England to strengthen their role as spaces for community action, social cohesion, and economic development through a major new programme to tackle local poverty, disadvantage, and discrimination.

The journey so far

Since launching in 2024, 21st Century Social Clubs has grown from a research programme into a national movement. From our first national support survey and policy roundtables in early 2025, to our inaugural conference, a delegation to Number 10, and recognition in government policy, to regional partnerships with local councils, and the launch of a major National Lottery funded programme.

Get involved

There are several ways to be part of the movement right now, whether you want to attend our flagship event, help shape the programme, or put your club forward for direct support.

Our partners

Thanks to National Lottery players, Stir to Action has received more than £2.7 million of truly life-changing funding over five years to deliver this work. The funding comes from The National Lottery Community Fund’s Solidarity Fund – a key part of its efforts to deliver its strategy and address inequity and inequality by supporting experienced organisations working with communities facing poverty, disadvantage and discrimination. It is central to its commitment to put community agency, power and control at the heart of its funding in England, as it plans to distribute at least £3 billion of life-changing grants by 2030.
